NAVIGLI - DARSENA CANAL CRUISE

Tour description

Starting at Alzaia Naviglio Grande, 4 (Porta Ticinese). The first stretch of navigation allows you to admire the Vicolo dei Lavandai, one of the many wash along the Canal Grande, where the women for centuries have washed the clothes of the Milanese. Continuing navigation meets the monumental complex of St. Christopher, a picturesque complex composed of two churches. The oldest, the one on the left, arose along the route to Milan from the Lomellina area at a point where there was an obligatory crossing of the waterways. The first church was rebuilt in the Romanesque period (1192) and underwent considerable reconstruction in the 14th century at the same time that work was underway on the Naviglio Grande. You go back and passing under the bridge called ‘Scodellino’, named in reference to the nearby taverns, you enter the dock, once authentic port of exchange for trade with the Lake Maggiore. Then back in Alzaia Naviglio Grande, 4 going back to the dock.
